About the Role

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. You will work with customers solving real engineering problems, and what you recommend will directly affect whether their product gets to market on time.

Responsibilities

  • Support the technical sales cycle from discovery calls and product demos to proof-of-concept projects and benchmarking evaluations
  • Apply CFD expertise in turbulence modeling, high-speed flows, and aerodynamics to help customers set up simulations that answer their engineering questions
  • Work directly with customers to understand their challenges, build simulation workflows, and recommend methodologies that balance accuracy and turnaround time
  • Deliver technical training, workshops, and presentations ranging from introductory sessions to advanced deep dives on compressible flow physics
  • Provide hands-on consulting on active customer projects, troubleshooting setup issues and guiding teams toward solutions
  • Collaborate with R&D and Product Management to relay customer requirements, validate new releases, and contribute to future product direction

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with strong foundation in fluid mechanics and numerical methods
  • Deep knowledge of computational fluid dynamics, turbulence modeling, compressible flow physics, and numerical solution techniques
  • Hands-on experience applying CFD to solve real engineering problems in industry or research
  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex simulation concepts to both engineers and business stakeholders
  • Comfort working directly with customers in pre-sales, consulting, or technical support roles
  • Experience with high-speed, transonic, supersonic, or compressible flow simulations is a strong plus, especially in aerospace, defense
  • Familiarity with Ansys Fluent, Ansys CFX, or similar CFD tools, and experience with Python scripting is a significant advantage
  • Ability to walk into a customer meeting, listen to a messy problem, and walk out with a clear plan for what to simulate and how to set it up
  • Ability to work with what the customer can give you, ask the right follow-up questions, and build a path forward without waiting for perfect information
  • Ability to know when to go deep on the physics and when to simplify based on what the customer actually needs
  • Ability to explain a mesh resolution versus runtime tradeoff to a program manager in two sentences without losing the nuance
  • Ability to be organized enough to juggle multiple customer engagements and internal projects without dropping threads
  • Ability to care whether the simulation actually works after you leave the room and follow up to make sure the customer is not stuck
