About the Role

Join a team at the center of a technology transformation within Equipment Finance, supporting and modernizing applications, APIs, data solutions, and technology platforms. This role is for a technologist who enjoys software development and wants to work across data, integrations, application support, troubleshooting, and business-facing problem solving. The work may vary based on business and technology priorities, including enhancing existing applications, supporting production systems, working across APIs and data integrations, troubleshooting technical issues, and solving problems across a diverse technology environment. The ideal candidate brings a blend of development and data experience, curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and business domains. Success in this role involves digging into problems, working through ambiguity, collaborating with technology and business partners, and contributing across the full lifecycle of supported solutions.

Responsibilities

Work within the approved Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to solve business needs and minimize risks through clean and resilient code.
Design, develop, test, and support applications, APIs, and data solutions.
Work across a varied technology ecosystem including custom applications, APIs, databases, data integrations, and third-party platforms.
Balance application development and enhancement work with production support, troubleshooting, integration, and ongoing application support.
Investigate and solve technical problems across existing systems and applications, including unfamiliar code and technologies.
Provide feedback in pull requests to other team members.
Participate in code reviews by presenting code and providing constructive feedback.
Write organized, clean, efficient, and secure source code.
Utilize source control management tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.
Assist in the design and implementation of data models, data acquisition processes, and data movement solutions.
Analyze technical and business requirements for completeness, accuracy, and feasibility.
Collaborate across development, data, and business teams to document and communicate technical implementation details.
Support testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of application and data-related issues.
Continuously learn and apply emerging technologies, tools, and engineering best practices.
Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls.
Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points.
Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Associate's degree and a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/or application development work experience OR Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year systems analysis and/or application development work experience. In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years’ education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of systems analysis and/or application development work experience.
Professional proficiency in a minimum of one relevant programming language.
Experience developing and supporting web-based applications and services.
Experience with Microsoft technologies, including .NET.
Experience with SQL Server, SQL development, and relational databases.
Experience building, consuming, supporting, or troubleshooting APIs and system integrations.
Experience with data modeling, database design, data acquisition, and data movement solutions.
Experience supporting applications in production environments, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
Experience using source control and code management tools such as GitHub and/or Azure DevOps.
Understanding of software development best practices, including code reviews, version control, unit testing, and controlled software delivery.
Ability to analyze technical and business requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
Ability to investigate unfamiliar technologies, existing code, and complex technical problems.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
