About the Role
GenStar Insurance Services, LLC is seeking a Senior E&S Casualty Underwriter in New York City. This hybrid role involves performing underwriting and marketing functions, analyzing complex risks, and managing client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate complex risks and exposures.
- Apply knowledge of rates, forms, pricing structures, terms, and conditions in casualty lines.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide client solutions.
- Manage a flow of individual risk submissions, valuing speed of response.
- Develop competitive and sound proposals.
- Advance existing client relationships and identify new prospects.
- Connect with and influence clients at the management level.
- Develop client management plans.
- Increase knowledge of industry policies, principles, and emerging exposures.
- Participate in company underwriting seminars and external courses.
- Lead or support underwriting and marketing activities and projects.
- Develop new products.
- Train new underwriters.
- Work on special client entertainment or educational events.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years commercial liability underwriting experience within the surplus lines marketplace, eight or more years preferred.
- Undergraduate college degree.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong client relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to learning.
- Well-developed industry knowledge.
