About the Role
Working within London Heathrow Airport, the General Operative will assist with routine maintenance duties to ensure productivity and output equipment availability, health & safety compliance and quality.
Responsibilities
- Performing operational checks, functionality checks, cleaning, adjustment, lubrication and monitoring.
- Finding root cause of issues and finding permanent solutions to issues encountered.
- Assisting with planned preventative maintenance, corrective and reactive maintenance in a timely manner as required.
- Being the 1st line of response to bag jams.
Requirements
- Extensive walking, including navigating various levels of the baggage systems and working at heights.
- Comfortable with prolonged periods of walking and standing.
- Lifting and moving heavy objects including baggage, motors, and rollers, with weights up to 75kg.
- Ability to work comfortably in tight areas and follow all safety guidelines for such environments.
- Willingness to work in environments with high noise levels.
- Must disclose any pre-existing medical history that may affect the ability to perform the duties of the role.
- Willingness to assist and learn from a multi-disciplined team in a fast-moving environment.
- Proactive approach to fault finding.
- Proficient in aspects of the operation and maintenance procedures.
- Act as a team player.
- Willing to work shifts including nights.
- Willing to work overtime when required.
