About the Role
Implement not just features, but architect performance. We are looking for a Performance Architect who sees a profiling report as a puzzle to be solved. Treat std::vector with respect and know when a custom allocator is the right choice. Your mission is to combat latency by hunting microseconds, optimizing the hot path of our ad-serving engine, and ensuring lightning-fast response times even under peak load. Master distributed complexity by evolving our architecture for international scaling and tackling the CAP theorem in practice. Tame data by architecting our NoSQL usage for complex targeting data retrieval without exceeding latency budgets. Set the standard by defining C++ best practices that keep our codebase maintainable while pushing hardware to its limits.
Responsibilities
- Optimize the hot path of our ad-serving engine.
- Ensure response times remain lightning-fast under peak load.
- Evolve our architecture for international scaling.
- Address the CAP theorem in practice.
- Architect NoSQL usage for complex targeting data retrieval.
- Define C++ best practices for maintainability and performance.
Requirements
- Master C++: Understand compiler thinking, utilize modern C++, and master memory layouts and cache hits.
- Live in Linux: Make the terminal your home, using perf, gdb, valgrind, and strace as primary tools.
- Think distributed: Develop systems running on multiple servers and understand why distributed locks are often a trap.
- Keep the web simple: Use HTTP, JSON, and XML as efficient interfaces for high-performance logic.
- Portfolio, side project, or demo repo demonstrating technical problem-solving and solution implementation is more important than a resume.
