  • Write tested, documented, and maintainable code, participating in code reviews.
  • Utilize AI coding agents to enhance delivery speed.
  • Travel within the UK a couple of times during the contract, with potential overseas trips.
  • Take initiative and see tasks through to completion, including work outside the core area.

Requirements

  • Solid commercial experience building and running production backend services in Go.
  • Hands-on commercial experience with Azure, including identity and authentication, networking, storage, and managed services.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • Experience with containerized deployments (e.g., Docker, Azure Container Apps).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with observability.
  • Experience running services reliably in production.
  • Experience designing, consuming, and integrating RESTful and/or gRPC APIs.
  • Good understanding of API authentication, security, and caching.
  • Experience with WebSockets, SSE, or event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Azure Event Hubs).
  • A good grasp of AI and LLM fundamentals.
  • Practical experience using AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
  • Comfortable in meetings with external partners and explaining technical topics clearly.
  • Takes initiative, gets involved, and takes ownership of outcomes.
  • Works iteratively with Scrum and Agile methods.
  • Adapts well when priorities change.
  • Communicates well and remains resilient in distributed, cross-functional teams.
