About the Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to build Xelix's data platform from the start, including pipelines, a data lake, and a Snowflake warehouse. You will focus on bringing data together for analytics, reporting, and AI, working alongside the Data Engineer in the Platform Team. This is a chance to shape a new team from its first day, whether you are a mid-level engineer ready for broader ownership or already operating at a senior level.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run ingestion from platform databases and business tools into the data lake and Snowflake warehouse, with a first version of priority sources live within the first six weeks.
  • Work AI-native from day one, using AI coding agents for pipelines, tests, and infrastructure code, while owning design, review, and reliability.
  • Set up change data capture from Postgres read replicas for analytics.
  • Own reliability, monitoring, data quality checks, and cost control for the data platform.
  • Work with the Platform Team on data contracts and access to production data.
  • Build datasets with AI Engineering for model evaluation and measuring processing accuracy.

Requirements

  • Solid experience as a data engineer, building production pipelines into a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake preferred).
  • Daily use of AI coding agents for pipelines, SQL, tests, and infrastructure code, with the ability to demonstrate impact on speed and verify output.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Experience with dbt and a managed ingestion tool (e.g., Fivetran, Airbyte).
  • Hands-on Postgres experience, including replication or change data capture.
  • AWS experience (S3, RDS, IAM) and infrastructure as code.
  • A security-minded approach to sensitive financial data, including access controls, retention, and auditability.
