About the Role
The Wabtec Mining team delivers world-class drive systems for heavy haul mining trucks, with a focus on sustainability technology. The Senior Systems Engineer will lead cross-functional teams through concept development and execution of key Mining projects, interacting directly with customers and stakeholders to ensure successful product launches.
Responsibilities
- Develop concepts and lead the execution of technical programs that meet a scope of requirements.
- Define the overall system requirements.
- Recommend design approaches to meet/exceed customer expectations.
- Provide technical guidance throughout the NPI process.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles.
- Provide technical leadership/direction to guide cross-functional team execution.
- Influence technical direction of organization to align with long-term strategies and short-term project goals.
- Document technical data generated consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Prepare invention disclosures and patents as required.
- Provide timely communications cross functionally and to various levels of the organization.
- Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives and engineering issues.
- Facilitate collaboration between engineering, commercial supply chain, and customer.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- At least 10 years of experience in an engineering position within the Marine, Stationary, Mining, Locomotive, Oil & Gas or related heavy equipment industry.
- Engineering experience in Control & system validation for motor, alternator, and power electronic systems.
- Engineering experience in Electromechanical system testing.
- Engineering experience in System design and circuit analysis.
- Engineering experience in Engineering Leadership.
- Engineering experience in Project management.
- Engineering experience in Mining or Heavy Industry application.
- Fluent in English and Japanese.
- Able to climb multistory access stairs and/or ladders on large mining trucks.
- Able to oversee and troubleshoot as prototype and production trucks are built and commissioned.
- Able to operate test instrumentation.
