About the Role

We are rebuilding the veterinary experience from the ground up, making access to care seamless, joyful, and genuinely personal for every pet and their owner. Our purpose is simple: healthier, happier pets and vets. We are building the vet group of the future. This role will deliver and embed our People strategy across multiple locations, turning strategy into consistent, practical action on the ground by focusing on training managers, employee relations, performance, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build practical people management training workshops for clinic leadership, and run them yourself.
  • Upskill clinic leaders to confidently handle issues linked to performance, sickness, team dynamics, and communication.
  • Partner with the L&D Manager on training design and delivery, ensuring it is embedded and changes leader management.
  • Make manager self-sufficiency the goal of all training delivered.
  • Manage ER casework including grievances, disciplinaries, absence, and performance cases.
  • Minimize risk to the business and advise on best practice, championing early, proactive resolution.
  • Coach managers through live cases to increase their confidence and capability.
  • Keep clear, accurate case records and identify recurring issues that require training or process fixes.
  • Champion the six-month probation journey, run monthly reports, and flag where early intervention is needed.
  • Embed probation and performance management journeys so they are understood, valued, and fully lived.
  • Support managers in understanding the importance of probation and performance reviews and how to maximize them.
  • Help managers conduct honest, constructive performance conversations with confidence.
  • Ensure performance and probation are applied consistently and fairly across clinics.
  • Keep culture consistent and recognisable across every clinic as the group grows.
  • Identify where clinics drift apart in process, standards, or culture, and close the gap.
  • Champion the mission and values in how leaders manage and how teams experience work.
  • Drive the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and colleague experience, ensuring culture and values are reflected throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Be a visible and approachable people leader, proactively supporting colleagues and resolving issues early.
  • Partner closely with the Vet Ops team and clinical leadership to understand business operations and clinic needs.
  • Embed the people strategy and best practice on the ground, translating central direction into practical application in busy clinical settings.
  • Build credible relationships with clinic teams, helping clinics run smoothly and removing people-related blockers.
  • Get new and newly promoted managers up to speed quickly on processes, expectations, and ways of working.
  • Support new clinic openings and integrations on the ground.
  • Embed people processes and standards consistently as the company scales.
  • Keep clinics running smoothly through change, ensuring people are informed, supported, and engaged.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation across the business.
  • Maintain strong, current knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Leverage HR metrics (turnover, absence, capability) to spot trends and identify areas for business improvement.
  • Provide clear, actionable insight to leadership to inform people decisions.
  • Use data to target areas where training, coaching, or process change will have the greatest impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years as an HR Business Partner, People Partner, or Senior HR Advisor, ideally in a multi-site, fast-paced, or matrix environment.
  • Proven, hands-on employee relations experience including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance cases.
  • Confident and comfortable designing and running training sessions.
  • Genuinely energised by delivery and making people plans real, consistent, and lasting.
  • Strong, current knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Exceptional communication, coaching, influencing, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • High emotional resilience.
  • Credibility to build trusted relationships and challenge managers at all levels.
