About the Role
The First Line Risk & Controls team within Real-Time Payments International (RTPI) is seeking an experienced risk and controls professional to help mature risk identification, ownership, management, and reporting across real-time payments markets. This role requires a strong background in technology, payments, or financial services, with the ability to understand complex issues, challenge constructively, and translate risk requirements into practical actions.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product, engineering, operations, and risk teams to identify, assess, monitor, and manage key risks and controls.
- Monitor the risk and control environment, identifying emerging risks, trends, issues, and areas requiring management attention or escalation.
- Support risk and control assessments, assurance activities, operational resilience, business continuity, and audit, driving effective remediation of identified weaknesses.
- Maintain high-quality risk information and deliver clear, insightful reporting to support management decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve risk and control processes, monitoring, and reporting.
- Build strong relationships across the business, promoting a strong culture of risk ownership and accountability.
Requirements
- Advanced, applied knowledge of risk and control frameworks and the three lines of defence model, ideally within technology, payments, or financial services.
- Ability to identify, assess, monitor, and manage operational and technology risks, providing constructive and proportionate challenge to the business.
- Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to understand complex issues and translate risk requirements into practical, sustainable actions.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to produce insightful risk reporting and influence stakeholders across product, engineering, and risk teams.
- Comfort operating across organizational boundaries, building trusted relationships, and promoting risk ownership and accountability.
- Abide by Mastercard's security policies and practices.
- Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed.
- Report any suspected information security violation or breach.
- Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard's guidelines.
