About the Role
Pen Underwriting, part of Gallagher, is shaping the future of insurance and seeks a Senior Development Underwriter/Manager for its Construction & Casualty team. This UK-based role involves building broker relationships, developing new business, and managing facilities, offering a chance to lead, innovate, and make a significant impact in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of the new business plan.
- Build strong broker relationships to identify and convert profitable opportunities.
- Negotiate and manage facilities, ensuring alignment with underwriting discipline and insurer appetite.
- Act as a senior market-facing representative to promote Pen’s Construction & Casualty proposition.
- Underwrite complex risks.
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues.
- Mentor the team to achieve shared goals.
Requirements
- Experience in underwriting Construction and Casualty risks, including complex cases.
- Proven track record of developing and converting new business through broker relationships.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of delegated facilities and portfolio management.
- Commercial awareness and sound judgment in underwriting decisions.
- Leadership skills, with experience mentoring and coaching colleagues.
- IT proficiency.
- Commitment to personal development.
