About the Role
Teleoperation pilots are foundational to our business, delivering immediate value, generating training data, and monitoring AI policies. This senior role offers significant ownership and autonomy to shape the hiring, training, and quality assurance of a rapidly growing operation with a multi-million dollar budget. Success requires technical fluency, operational rigor, and people leadership, ideally with experience scaling a function from the ground up in data labeling, self-driving, or robotics.
Responsibilities
- Scale the pilot training program, certification bar, and grading/scoring system.
- Forecast pilot demand against robot deployment and manage the hiring/staffing pipeline.
- Build the process for pilot readiness for new customer deployments, including training and certification.
- Manage external pilot contractor relationships, including SLAs and quality reviews, and onboard new vendors.
- Design and execute the plan to grow the in-house pilot operations team alongside vendors.
- Partner with R&D on AI policy rollouts and manage AI policy implementation for customers without sacrificing quality.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience scaling high-volume, quality-measured operations teams of hundreds of people (robotics fleet ops, data labeling ops, or similar).
- Experience managing outsourced vendors and building in-house teams in the US and nearshore/offshore locations.
- Proven ability to build systems and perform tasks directly before delegating.
- Detailed understanding of the importance of data quality for AI teams.
- Comfortable with frequent travel to be onsite with vendors, especially during critical scale-up periods.
