About the Role
Our client is building the intelligence layer for construction using the latest computer vision and LLM systems. As a founding engineer, you will set the technical direction, select models, and define the development process for this early-stage San Francisco team. This role offers significant ownership and equity.
Responsibilities
- Own the intelligence layer end to end, including detection, understanding, and estimation over construction documents.
- Set the technical direction for applying CV, LLM, and AI systems, utilizing a model-garden approach.
- Ship 0-to-1 prototypes rapidly and refine them based on user feedback.
- Integrate various models (detection, segmentation, OCR, LLM reasoning) into a cohesive system.
- Navigate and resolve challenges associated with early-stage product development, including messy data and edge cases.
Requirements
- Proven experience with applied CV/ML in Python, including deep learning, computer vision, and object detection.
- Demonstrated ability to build from 0-to-1 or take ownership in early-stage ventures.
- Experience deploying AI models into production environments.
- A strong capacity for learning and adapting quickly.
- Empathy and honesty in assessing project progress and challenges.
- Comfort with ambiguity and hands-on problem-solving in a startup environment.
- Experience as a founder or in a startup environment, having built products that were used or paid for.
