About the Role
The Users team owns who is allowed to do what: roles, permissions, invitations, and the authorization layer every other product team builds on. From a solo founder working with agents to an enterprise onboarding employees for spend without exposing banking details, our job is to support that range while keeping the core product simple. Every product Mercury adds brings new kinds of users and makes the model more capable. Getting this right is the difference between being a place founders bank and a financial stack companies run on.
Responsibilities
- Own the experience of collaboration on Mercury, considering roles, permissions, and product experiences for added employees, finance teams, or accountants.
- Simplify the process for founders to add their team members to Mercury by addressing hesitations and making invitations obvious, easy, and high-trust.
- Extend Mercury's collaboration features across various communication platforms like email, Slack, and iMessage.
- Develop functionality for large customers to manage employee spend and financial operations as they scale.
- Contribute to the evolution of the product space by adapting to growing ambitions and changing user types, including agents.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant product management experience, preferably on collaboration products or platform teams accountable for identity, roles, and authorization.
- Demonstrated taste and judgment to balance product needs against platform requirements, focusing on simplicity over complexity in permission models.
- Ability to proactively contribute to product strategy and unblock customer collaboration.
- A clear perspective on agentic action and its complexities when the actor is not a person.
- Proven track record of independently transforming ambiguity into a clear point of view.
- Capacity to autonomously manage complex problems from research and design through engineering, go-to-market, and stakeholder management.
