About the Role
Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software, aiming to make construction software-defined and autonomous. This role involves scaling our R&D fleet from tens to thousands of robots annually, ensuring fleet deployability, and making design changes to improve reliability and serviceability. You will own increasing quarterly production and building production capabilities from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Take prototypes through to production-ready modules.
- Find and address design flaws, validate improvements, and push these modules to production.
- Assemble modules, understand production friction, and address issues with the hardware team.
- Develop fixtures, jigs, and light automation solutions to support module assembly.
- Identify production processes suitable for outsourcing and work with external suppliers.
- Produce drawings, assembly instructions, and quality checks for module integration and robot assembly.
Requirements
- Industry experience, ideally in a VC-backed start-up, transitioning products from prototype to production.
- Hands-on, analytical mindset skilled at building assemblies, running studies, analyzing data, and solving production/quality issues.
- Proficiency in mechanical assembly (press fits, fastener selection, harness, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and producing 3D and 2D drawings.
- Experience creating structured process documentation (work instructions, SOPs, quality checklists).
- Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
