About the Role

The Senior Analyst, Finance Technology - Revenue & Billing is responsible for the functional operation, support, and continuous improvement of the firm's revenue lifecycle technology. The role owns capabilities spanning timekeeping, billing, eBilling, billing output, cost recovery, pricing, and revenue-related reporting. The analyst partners with Finance, Billing, Pricing, IT, and vendors to translate business needs into reliable application configuration, integrations, controls, testing, and support processes.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary IT functional analyst for time capture, prebill, billing, eBilling, bill delivery, cost recovery, pricing, and related revenue processes.
  • Support billing configuration, bill groups, billing rules, templates, addresses, matter billing attributes, timekeeper dependencies, and revenue-related reference data.
  • Investigate billing-cycle issues and interface exceptions that could delay time capture, invoice generation, bill delivery, or downstream revenue reporting.
  • Partner with Billing and Pricing stakeholders to evaluate enhancements, prioritize defects, and validate that changes support operational requirements and financial controls.
  • Support critical billing periods and coordinate production validation for billing, timekeeping, and revenue application changes.
  • Partner with Finance, Billing, Procurement, IT, Information Security, Quality Assurance, reporting and data teams, and third-party vendors to understand business needs and translate them into functional requirements, process designs, configuration specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Serve as the functional owner for assigned Finance technology capabilities, applications, and related integrations, maintaining a clear understanding of end-to-end business processes and upstream and downstream dependencies.
  • Provide production support by investigating incidents, service requests, data discrepancies, and recurring process issues; perform functional triage, identify root causes, and coordinate sustainable resolution with technical teams and vendors.
  • Configure and maintain assigned application settings, business rules, reference data, workflows, and controls within approved governance and change-management processes.
  • Lead or support system integration testing, regression testing, user acceptance testing, defect triage, production validation, and business sign-off for releases, enhancements, and fixes.
  • Own assigned integrations from a functional perspective, including business rules, data mapping validation, reconciliation, exception review, testing, and coordination with integration developers and support teams.
  • Maintain functional specifications, configuration records, process documentation, data mappings, test evidence, release notes, operating procedures, and knowledge articles.
  • Support release planning, change assessment, cutover, deployment, user communications, training, and post-production stabilization.
  • Monitor operational trends, recurring defects, control gaps, and manual workarounds; recommend improvements that strengthen reliability, usability, data quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate vendor escalations and validate vendor-delivered fixes, patches, and product changes before production deployment.
  • Provide secondary coverage across the Finance technology portfolio and contribute to cross-functional priorities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Five or more years of experience as a functional analyst, business systems analyst, product analyst, or application support professional working with financial or enterprise business systems.
  • Experience supporting an ERP, financial management system, or comparable enterprise application in a production environment; Aderant Sierra experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, analyze processes, document functional designs, write test scenarios, manage defects, and support production releases.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise integrations, data mappings, scheduled jobs, interface monitoring, reconciliation, and error-handling concepts; hands-on software development is not required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess cross-system impacts and distinguish functional, data, configuration, and technical issues.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, written communication, documentation, planning, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with technical delivery teams, quality assurance teams, third-party vendors, and business stakeholders in a structured change-management environment.
  • Familiarity with service management, risk management, access controls, segregation of duties, audit requirements, and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Flexibility in schedule to support critical business processing, deployments, or calls and meetings outside regular business hours when required.
  • Strong functional knowledge of legal or professional-services billing, timekeeping, eBilling, prebill processing, revenue operations, or matter pricing.
  • Experience supporting billing rules, bill formats, billing templates, time-entry workflows, cost recovery, or electronic invoice delivery.
