About the Role
Direct Biologics is a market leading innovator and science-based cGMP manufacturer of regenerative biologic products. We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing most aspects of financial reporting close for Direct Biologics. This role will work in a small accounting team and will be highly visible within this startup organization. The position will report directly to the Controller. This individual will prepare operational results under US GAAP and ensure internal control and tax compliance for Direct Biologics.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly closing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for review.
- Ensure Accounts Payable is processed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Work closely with all departments and vendors to ensure accuracy.
- Perform month-end close processes and prepare quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and finished good unit costs from manufacturing processes.
- Provide day-to-day review of accounting activities including transactions, policies, controls, and procedures.
- Serve as the primary AP personnel working with department heads and suppliers.
- Post AP invoices and ensure they are coded to the correct account and department.
- Review and analyze credit card activity to ensure transactions are coded correctly and timely in Expensify.
- Assist in customer and vendor account reconciliations.
- Reconcile payroll to ADP reports to prepare journal entries.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Review contracts to identify items that may need to be reported in the financial statements.
- Ensure accurate and complete financial records and reporting, in compliance with legal requirements and US GAAP standards.
- Assist in the annual independent financial audit.
- Prepare state tax filings including sales, use, and property tax filings.
- Work with outsourced service providers covering accounting, tax, benefits, and legal.
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Protect the company's value by keeping information confidential.
- Assist with the preparation of other financial reports.
- Perform other projects and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a similar position.
- SEC Reporting preferred.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent Excel and data analysis abilities
- Experience with Bill.com payable system
- Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
- Ability to perform with substantial latitude at high levels in a startup environment
- Comfortable taking initiative in building something from nothing when the need arises
- High-energy professional with demonstrated self-confidence, strong-work ethic and high integrity
- Strong relationship building skills
