About the Role
Presidio Knolls School seeks Afterschool Teachers for the Elementary and Middle School Programs. The role reports to the Auxiliary Program Director and operates from class dismissal to the extended care program dismissal. This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
Responsibilities
- Interact with children using a positive, supportive, respectful, and open-minded attitude, language, and tone.
- Design daily activities that encourage questioning, problem-solving, language, creativity, and concept formation in young children.
- Maintain visual and auditory supervision of children at all times to ensure their safety in the classroom, on the playground, and when navigating the campus.
- Support children in building critical and creative thinking skills through inquiry, observation, and experimentation.
- Support children's social and emotional growth and development.
- Maintain clean, organized play areas and complete assigned closing duties.
- Communicate promptly with the Auxiliary team about injuries, behavioral concerns, attendance discrepancies, and other student needs.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and confirm students' locations during transitions and handoffs.
- Attend monthly team meetings and required training sessions.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Requirements
- Must have or be able to attain authorization to work in the US without sponsorship by PKS.
- Must be able to pass a Livescan background check permitting employment in a school / child care facility.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Experience Level
- At least 6 months teaching experience desirable (other work with children such as babysitting, summer camp, and other experiences working with children will also be considered).

- Bachelor Degree, or in the process of obtaining preferred.
Salary/Compensations
- $20-$26 per hour based on experience.
