About the Role

This role partners with platform, data, QA, and product engineers to own the intersection of reliability and security, focusing on tooling, monitoring, alerting, emergency response, and systems design. A key aspect is building AI-driven security pipelines for vulnerability detection and remediation. It's a coaching and consulting role focused on empowering peer developers to improve reliability and security.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with platform, data, QA, and product teams to understand their automation, infrastructure, monitoring, and security needs.
  • Build tooling and processes that solve the problems surfaced in discussions.
  • Build and maintain an agentic vulnerability detection and mitigation pipeline that scans, triages, and proposes fixes with human-in-the-loop guardrails.
  • Embed security into the development lifecycle, including threat modeling, supply-chain hygiene, secrets management, and secure-by-default patterns.
  • Lead security and reliability incident response as first-class operational concerns.
  • Define company-level SLAs, SLOs, and Error Budgets, and help teams set their own.
  • Steer system design toward shared tooling and decisions that ensure reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Join the on-call rotation as a peer to spot process gaps and coach on response.
  • Act as a senior escalation for infrastructure and security issues, helping resolve them while coaching teams to handle the next.
  • Own AWS infrastructure and set the long-term strategy for reliability and security posture, balancing scalability and cost.

Requirements

  • Senior-to-staff experience as an SRE, platform, or infrastructure engineer, owning production reliability at scale.
  • Hands-on application and/or infrastructure security experience sufficient to lead security conversations without a dedicated security team.
  • Practical experience building with LLMs and agentic systems, including understanding their failure modes and the need for human oversight.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, with a focus on building tools and systems.
  • A coaching instinct, measuring impact by the improvement of surrounding teams.
