About the Role
As a Site Reliability Engineer at Material Security, you will own the reliability of the infrastructure that every product team builds on, including GCP, Kubernetes, and Postgres across hundreds of GCP projects. This is a software engineering role focused on building systems and fostering a culture that eliminates manual on-call work, addresses the root causes of alerts, and provides clear visibility into system health. You will collaborate with all teams and leadership to define infrastructure direction.
Responsibilities
- Design and build software that removes manual on-call intervention and recurring sources of toil.
- Lead infrastructure projects end to end.
- Identify and resolve cost-driven limits that create latency or reliability problems.
- Build tooling for at-a-glance system health monitoring across GCP projects.
- Define SLOs with product teams and enhance reliability practices across engineering.
- Pioneer reliability engineering for agent-first production systems.
Requirements
- Solid software engineering fundamentals and coding ability, with a preference for solving problems with production code.
- Hands-on experience managing GCP (or comparable cloud) and Kubernetes at production scale, including autoscaling and capacity management.
- Experience building tools and automation relied upon by other engineers, beyond just runbooks for manual fixes.
- Comfort driving ambiguous, cross-team reliability work independently, from diagnosis to resolution.
