About the Role
This role exists to take over finance operations from one of the founders, build the finance team, and establish robust financial processes for a rapidly growing strength training company.
Responsibilities
- Approve spending within budget.
- Lead finance trainee in daily operations including receipts, invoices, and account coding.
- Review financial samples and resolve new cases.
- Adapt financial rules and processes.
- Manage payments, payroll, and month-end/year-end close with the tax firm.
- Own the planning model and conduct monthly liquidity planning.
- Run the annual and three-year budget, forecasts, and scenarios.
- Build business cases for new locations and integrate them into the planning model.
- Set up monthly management reporting.
- Prepare company financing and lead conversations with financing partners.
- Handle employee data and contracts.
- Build the finance team and advise on the need for a dedicated HR role.
Requirements
- Around 4-6 years in finance, including startup or scale-up experience.
- Strong academic background in business, finance, or a similar field.
- Experience with month-end closes and working with an external tax firm.
- Experience building or fundamentally rebuilding a planning model in spreadsheets.
- Sound understanding of account coding.
- Desire to understand studio economics and influence decisions with data.
- Fluent German.
- English C1 level.
- Must live in Berlin or be willing to relocate.
- Experience in a fast-growing business with multiple locations (nice to have).
- Experience preparing financing (e.g., bank or development loans) (nice to have).
- Experience with SKR03, DATEV, Moss, Helu, or similar tools (nice to have).
- First leadership experience (nice to have).
