About the Role
Relay is a digital banking platform designed to empower self-made business owners with financial clarity, confidence, and control. We are seeking a Senior Web Developer to lead complex web projects, influence technical decisions, and contribute to the platform's scalability, impacting site performance, scalability, and discoverability.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex, multi-part projects end-to-end, including defining scope, setting milestones, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality work on time.
- Own post-launch performance by measuring, identifying opportunities, and iterating on improvements.
- Define the technical approach for features and projects, making decisions on server/client boundaries, caching, revalidation, and CDN behavior.
- Balance performance, scalability, and technical debt while proactively simplifying systems and improving maintainability.
- Proactively improve site performance, accessibility, security, and technical SEO, including structured data and metadata.
- Build and optimize integrations between the headless CMS and front end, developing scalable content models and tools.
- Build and integrate AI workflows and agents to improve development efficiency, establishing guardrails for quality.
- Build and maintain analytics, event tracking, attribution, feature flags, and A/B testing infrastructure.
- Own integrations between the website, marketing tools, and CRM systems.
- Set a high bar for maintainable, performant, and well-documented code.
- Define testing strategies across unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Serve as a trusted technical partner to Marketing, Design, Product, and external agencies.
- Translate business needs into technical solutions and drive alignment on priorities and tradeoffs.
- Mentor developers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Help cross-functional partners navigate technical decisions.
Requirements
- 4+ years of front-end development experience, ideally in a high-growth B2B SaaS or fintech environment.
- Proven ability to work independently and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, Node, and TypeScript.
- Skilled in modern front-end architecture, with a strong understanding of server/client boundaries, caching, revalidation, and CDN behavior.
- Proficient in Tailwind and experienced working with design systems, reusable components, and headless CMS platforms.
- Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, and technical SEO, including Core Web Vitals, WCAG 2.1 AA, semantic HTML, metadata, and structured data.
- Actively use AI tools and workflows to improve development efficiency, with the judgment to evaluate outputs and manage risks.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage competing priorities, and translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive problem-solver who thinks beyond individual tasks, understands customer needs, challenges assumptions, and anticipates downstream impacts.
- Adapts quickly to new technologies and feedback.
