About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, commercially minded Data & AI Lead to manage our data stack and guide the team in building advanced systems. This role is pivotal in evolving our data function towards self-service capabilities through AI.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the modern data stack (Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt Cloud, ThoughtSpot, GCP), ensuring reliability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage tooling decisions from selection to vendor management, keeping platform costs in check.
  • Create frameworks for data validation and testing to ensure data accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data-related inquiries and possess in-depth knowledge of our data.
  • Stay updated on new stack features and implement relevant ones.
  • Drive the company's data and AI strategy.
  • Ensure AI operates in a safe, governed environment with high-quality data, focusing on access, privacy, and responsible use.
  • Own the semantic layer for consistent metric definition across BI tools and AI agents.
  • Implement checks and validations to monitor data accuracy and identify deviations.
  • Collaborate with Finance to understand P&L drivers and margin impact in a D2C and retail business.
  • Apply a commercial mindset to all decisions, challenging narratives not supported by data.
  • Lead and develop a diverse team, including analytics engineers and AI/automation engineers.
  • Ensure project delivery through clear prioritization and sound judgment.
  • Lead by example, conduct code reviews, approve pull requests, and coach team members.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a Data role.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Snowflake and dbt.
  • Good experience with GCP.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance.
  • Experience designing data architecture, including selecting data tooling and managing contracts.
  • Experience leading and developing a team with a track record of project delivery.
  • Experience implementing tests, evaluations, and validations for data and AI safety and accuracy.
  • A commercial mindset with a clear understanding of margin in a D2C and retail business.
  • Ability to work at pace and manage multiple priorities.
  • A genuine drive to be at the forefront of AI and to lead the team in this area.
  • Experience with a range of BI and visualization tools.
