Responsibilities
- Own the month-end and year-end close for your area, delivering accurate and timely financials under HGB and IFRS, and managing daily accounting operations.
- Manage core operational processes end-to-end, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations for high-volume bank, clearing, and customer-related accounts.
- Lead the accounting aspects of new product and market launches, collaborating with Product, Engineering, Tax, and Regulatory Reporting teams to define accounting treatment, GL mapping, posting logic, and controls.
- Analyze the balance sheet and P&L, investigate variances, and propose or post adjustments.
- Enhance the control environment through principles like 4-eye principle, documentation, and reconciliation standards, and collaborate with data and engineering teams to automate manual tasks.
- Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and other Finance teams, including FP&A, Tax, Controlling, and Regulatory Reporting.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on operational accounting experience (GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, month-end close), with a preference for prior Big 4 audit experience.
- Experience in a bank, broker, neobank, payments company, or fast-growing fintech.
- Experience with high-volume transactional data is a strong advantage.
- Proven track record of integrating new products, entities, or processes into accounting systems, including assessment, setup, and controls.
- Solid knowledge of HGB and IFRS.
- Knowledge of RechKredV (German accounting rules for banks) is a plus.
- Strong ERP experience, with SAP S/4HANA being a significant advantage.
- Proficiency with large datasets in Excel; SQL or BI tools are a plus.
- Fluent English. German language skills are a plus.
- Possess a hands-on, structured, and detail-oriented approach, with a willingness to question manual processes and support the team.
