About the Role
Seven Education is developing an intelligent, AI-powered platform to help schools and educational institutions operate more efficiently. Our products reduce administrative tasks, improve communication, and enable educators, institutions, and educational leaders to focus on what truly matters: learning, growth, and people. As a Senior Data Protection & Compliance Manager, you will ensure that the trust placed in us regarding the data of children and teachers is maintained in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. You will be the central point of contact for data protection, negotiate customer contracts with good judgment, and build a data protection framework that grows with our group. Your goal is to enable data protection that facilitates sales and tenders, rather than hindering them.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for customer data protection inquiries, engaging directly with data protection officers of public entities, including during tender processes.
- Negotiate data processing agreements with customers and establish a standardized contract set to expedite sales closures.
- Develop a data protection framework for the DACH region, considering country, state, and cantonal differences, and make recurring answers readily available via a knowledge base.
- Oversee the data protection documentation for our products and ensure new service providers and AI functionalities are launched in compliance with data protection regulations.
- Monitor the legal landscape in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, prepare authority notifications with the CISO, and manage external data protection and legal counsel as needed.
- Support the CISO in preparing for ISO 27001 audits.
- Utilize AI and automation to scale audits and responses, empowering Sales and Customer Support with understandable data protection knowledge.
Requirements
- Several years of practical experience in data protection within a company offering its own products, ideally SaaS or EdTech, with excellent knowledge of GDPR.
- Experience in reviewing and negotiating customer contracts, particularly data processing agreements, beyond internal consultation.
- A solid understanding of information security, ideally from an ISO 27001-certified environment, enabling effective communication with security colleagues.
- Experience interacting with public contracting authorities or agencies and comfortable handling children's data.
- A solution-oriented approach, finding viable paths for both customers and the company even under strict requirements.
- Self-driven ownership of a topic currently distributed among several individuals, with a habit of proactively keeping stakeholders informed.
- Fluent written and spoken German and English, as contracts are drafted in German and documentation may also be in English.
