Responsibilities

  • Formulate and publish independent investment research on Australian listed gold companies, thematic industry notes, and timely production/earnings analysis.
  • Build and maintain detailed, asset-by-asset financial models for the mining sector.
  • Manage relationships with global buy-side clients, delivering investment recommendations and sector insights through regular meetings, calls, and marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate access to corporate management teams, industry experts, site visits, and sector conferences for institutional investors.
  • Ensure all research products and client interactions strictly adhere to RBC’s internal policies, global compliance standards, and local regulatory frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant areas e.g. Science (Geology), Mining/Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Finance or Mathematics.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, with a track record of delivering high-quality analytical work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

  • Strong financial modelling skills are essential — candidates must be comfortable building, maintaining and interrogating detailed financial models, including scenario and sensitivity analysis, to support valuations and investment recommendations.
  • Proficiency in financial statement analysis, valuation methodologies (DCF, NAV, peer comparable) and the ability to interpret and communicate model outputs clearly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate investment views in a clear, persuasive and structured manner to sophisticated domestic and global institutional clients.
  • Experience interacting with institutional investors, company management or other sophisticated stakeholders is advantageous.
