About the Role
Walt's Comic Shop is seeking a Fulfillment Manager to oversee all aspects of their e-commerce fulfillment operations, from goods receipt to package dispatch. This role involves ensuring quality, speed, and cost-effectiveness per package, leading a team of 18, and reporting directly to management. The goal is to establish and optimize key performance indicators (KPIs) for the fulfillment process.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement KPIs for fulfillment, including cost per package, shipping speed, productivity, pick rate, and error/damage rates.
- Establish reliable data collection methods, baseline metrics, and target values.
- Ensure weekly visibility of KPIs for the team and monthly reporting for management.
- Analyze deviations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions, measuring the impact of process changes.
- Develop and manage a new coordinator model, setting goals and metrics for each coordinator.
- Plan weekly staffing based on order volume, productivity, and absences, including buffers for campaigns.
- Coordinate quantities with marketing and purchasing departments in advance.
- Improve warehouse processes, including pick routes, packing stations, shelving logic, and material flow.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in warehouse or e-commerce fulfillment.
- At least 2 years of experience in a disciplinary leadership role for an operational team of 10+ people.
- Demonstrated success in measurably improving picking, packing, or personnel planning, with quantifiable results.
- Proficiency with operational KPIs and spreadsheets; ability to build simple, reliable tracking systems.
- Hands-on understanding of warehouse operations.
- Very good German and English language skills.
- Experience with sensitive or high-value goods (books, collectibles, art) is a plus.
- A passion for comics is a plus.
