About the Role

Lead the technical function at an ambitious UK food business, taking ownership of food safety, quality, and legal compliance across the site and supply chain. Set the technical direction, lead day-to-day operations, and serve as the go-to expert for the team, with access to experienced mentoring.

Responsibilities

Lead the site’s food safety programme, including HACCP, GMP audits, quality KPIs, and complaint investigation.
Develop the quality management system and train the operations team to ensure standards are maintained.
Maintain and develop the site’s third-party accreditations.
Manage non-conformances, incidents, withdrawals, and recalls.
Oversee supplier approval and performance, including VACCP, raw material intake, and specifications.
Approve new and existing products for compliance, including labelling, claims, and artwork.
Provide technical input on site improvement, digitisation, and efficiency projects.

Requirements

Experience managing third-party certification (e.g. BRCGS, SALSA).
Experience running several cross-functional projects simultaneously.
A practical, commercially minded approach suited to a fast-moving business.
Strong communication skills and the confidence to coach and train others.
