Develop observability and automation of 'tools we use' into a platform capability that supports and makes every other engineer in the company more productive. Take responsibility for the observability stack, driving Prometheus, Grafana, and Forgejo forward. Manage these tools not just as they are, but evolve them into a top-tier monitoring ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Develop observability and automation of 'tools we use' into a platform capability.
Support and make every other engineer in the company more productive.
Take responsibility for the observability stack, driving Prometheus, Grafana, and Forgejo forward.
Evolve monitoring tools into a top-tier monitoring ecosystem.
Design meaningful and actionable alerts and define SLOs to move from reactive 'firefighting' to proactive stability.
Evaluate and implement modern open-source alternatives to proprietary software.
Decide which technologies are incorporated into our stack and how they integrate.
Integrate security engineering directly into our development and delivery process.
Identify vulnerabilities before penetration testing does.
Dive deep into Linux systems and distributed tools.
Combine bold experimentation with an absolutely stable production environment.

Requirements

Demonstrable experience implementing metrics, logs, and traces.
Understand how to derive concrete and actionable insights from large amounts of data and signals.
Feel at home in the terminal and understand how distributed systems communicate with each other – and how and why they fail.
Dislike doing the same task twice.
Use code to automate infrastructure and eliminate unnecessary manual work.
Live the 'You build it, you run it' philosophy and take responsibility for the stability of the systems you work on.
A portfolio, a side project, or a demo repo that shows how you approach technical problems and implement solutions.
