About the Role

Kobre & Kim is seeking a qualified solicitor for a hybrid role in its Legal Department. This position combines conflicts clearance with broader legal risk management, matter support, and departmental initiatives. The successful candidate will aid in informed matter acceptance decisions, support in-house lawyers on legal and ethical issues, and contribute to projects, guidance, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and resolve potential conflicts identified in conflicts reports, handling straightforward issues independently and escalating more complex matters.
  • Collaborate with partners, senior in-house lawyers, and the Conflicts Team to support timely, practical, and well-reasoned matter-acceptance decisions.
  • Help manage the conflicts clearance process efficiently by coordinating information and discussions.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of the firm's conflicts processes, systems, and related information-barrier tools.
  • Support in-house lawyers on delegated, matter-specific assignments, including reviewing agreements and analyzing legal or ethical issues.
  • Research issues and prepare initial recommendations or proposed strategies to mitigate legal, ethical, and professional risk.
  • Prepare first drafts of training materials, guidance documents, and internal policies related to legal risk management.
  • Support Legal Department initiatives and larger-scale projects, including AI-related initiatives.
  • Provide practical project management support to advance departmental assignments and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor with 1-4 years PQE gained in a law firm.
  • Litigation background is preferred.
  • Prior experience in conflicts or law firm risk management is helpful but not required.
  • Strong legal analysis, judgment, and written communication skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach with the ability to respond to changing priorities and a varied workload.
  • Proactive, self-starting approach with an interest in seeking out additional assignments and learning opportunities.
  • Willingness to learn conflicts processes and technology from the ground up.
  • Strong technological aptitude and interest in developing proficiency in the firm's systems (conflicts database, iManage, network drives, information-barrier tools, 3E).
  • Interest in exploring responsible use of AI tools to improve processes and workflow efficiency.
  • Genuine interest in using conflicts work as a foundation for developing broader legal risk-management and advisory skills.
