About the Role
We are hiring for a Head of BI & Data to build and lead our new BI / Data team, reporting to our CTO. This role offers the opportunity to own Xelix's single source of truth, including the data lake, data warehouse, and metrics essential for all teams, AI features, and data products.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead the BI / Data team, including hiring a Data Engineer and an Analytics Engineer, and defining team workflows with Finance, RevOps, Commercial, Product, Engineering, and Services.
- Own the data platform end-to-end, encompassing the data lake, Snowflake data warehouse, ingestion processes, and key company KPIs like ARR, customer retention, realized customer value, touchless rate, and cost to serve.
- Deliver a unified customer dataset within the first three months, integrating product usage, realized value, contracts, and cost with CRM data to enable analysis of customer value, renewals, expansion, and service costs.
- Establish data governance with InfoSec, covering access controls, retention and deletion policies, and clear ownership for all data sources.
- Prepare data for AI applications, including creating evaluation datasets for AI Engineering, providing trusted context for agents, and ensuring clean data for data products.
- Collaborate with the platform team on data contracts, change data capture, and migrating analytics off production databases.
Requirements
- Experience building or leading a data team in a B2B SaaS or fintech company, preferably as the first data leader.
- Hands-on expertise with the modern data stack, including Snowflake or similar, dbt, managed ingestion tools (Fivetran, Airbyte), and BI tools like Metabase, Omni, Looker, or Power BI.
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills, with a willingness to contribute hands-on in the first year.
- Proven ability to gain consensus from business teams on metric definitions and ensure their adoption.
- Practical experience with AI in data-related tasks, such as AI-assisted pipeline development, natural-language analytics on a semantic layer, or AI evaluation data.
- Clear communication skills for engaging with senior stakeholders, including leadership and board reporting, as well as engineers.
