About the Role
Okta is building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace the new era of AI. This role involves designing systems that help developers secure AI agents, manage granular permissions, and build on identity primitives. Engineers, PMs, and Designers work collaboratively on the same problems simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary owner for strong systems thinking, taste, quality, and customer experience.
- Maintain the quality bar when speed is a factor.
- Prototype extensively using AI tools and code to explore numerous directions rapidly.
- Design within the codebase using React and Next.js to refine components and interactions.
- Translate complex authorization models, SDK patterns, and security flows into clear and precise interfaces.
- Elevate the design craft within the broader design organization by demonstrating effective ways of working.
Requirements
- Possess strong design craft, including considered typography, intentional spacing, polished micro-interactions, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a refined sense of design taste/aesthetics and a deep appreciation for details that create a polished user experience.
- Have 6+ years of design experience.
- Have experience prototyping in the browser, shipping side projects, or writing production code.
- Possess a real AI practice with defined workflows and opinions on AI tool effectiveness.
- Have experience designing for developers, including tools, APIs, CLIs, SDKs, and admin dashboards.
- Understand the unique definition of 'simple' for a developer audience.
- Include a link to your portfolio with password (if protected) in your application.
- Prioritize review of design craft and examples of work in code.
