About the Role
The Data Center Operations group is looking for a Data Center Engineer. This is a physical, on-site position requiring hands-on work within a data center environment, including cabling, equipment racking, and hardware troubleshooting. The successful candidate will be responsible for deploying and maintaining servers, networking equipment and other devices together with installing and supporting fiber and copper infrastructure in our Data Centers located in Japan and South Korea.
Responsibilities
- Deploying and maintaining servers, networking equipment and other devices.
- Installing and supporting fiber and copper infrastructure in Data Centers.
- Performing physical tasks including lifting and moving equipment.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware faults through breakfix and incident management.
- Hands-on operations in securing and monitoring equipment with enterprise level management tools.
- Occasionally travel within and outside of Japan.
- Provide on-call / out of business hours support to respond to and resolve urgent business issues.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with progressive responsibilities within an international, multi-cultural, multi-location organization.
- Expertise with data center operational tasks, including rack sizing, construction, installation, and decommissioning.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and moving equipment in accordance with applicable local labor safety standards.
- Hands-on experience with installing, testing, and troubleshooting copper and fiber cabling.
- Capable of designing cable infrastructure layouts to industry standards.
- Experience with DCIM tools.
- Proficient in English (preferably Eiken level 2 or above).
- Must be eligible to work in Japan at time of application.
