About the Role

As a DSP & Systems Intern, you will work on systems-level problems at the boundary of research and production, where your algorithms and architectures will directly impact AI infrastructure performance at scale. You will architect, model, and evaluate system-level designs for electrical/optical interconnects, develop and optimize DSP algorithms for high-speed links, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, model, and evaluate system-level designs for electrical/optical interconnects, developing analytical models and simulations that inform real silicon architecture decisions.
  • Develop and optimize DSP algorithms for high-speed electrical or optical links, including equalization adaptation, calibration, timing recovery, and signal integrity techniques.
  • Collaborate with analog, digital, photonics, and firmware engineering teams to validate architectural assumptions against real hardware and silicon measurements.
  • Build behavioral models and simulations in MATLAB or Python to evaluate performance tradeoffs.
  • Present architectural proposals and algorithm results to engineering leadership and contribute to internal technical documentation and design reviews.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or M.Sc. program in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with research focused on optical/electrical interconnects, digital signal processing, or communication systems.
  • Strong foundation in signal processing, communication theory, control systems, optimization, or system architecture, with the ability to apply theoretical concepts to practical engineering problems.
  • Research or project experience in one or more of the following areas: high-speed communications, DSP algorithm development, optical communications, SerDes systems, signal integrity, equalization, clock and data recovery, or system-level architecture.
  • Experience developing models and simulations using MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar tools to evaluate complex system behavior and performance tradeoffs.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and able to work effectively in a collaborative environment spanning DSP, analog, digital, photonics, firmware, and systems engineering disciplines.
  • Candidates are not permitted to use AI tools during interviews.
  • Applicants must be eligible to access export-controlled information as defined under applicable law.
