About the Role
As a Platform Engineer (L2), you will own meaningful pieces of our infrastructure end-to-end, designing, deploying, and maintaining services that other engineers rely on daily. You will work on projects with roughly 4-week horizons, ship infrastructure changes with minimal day-to-day guidance, and deepen your specialization in cloud architecture, reliability, and developer tooling. This role is ideal for individuals who have shipped production infrastructure, possess a working grasp of IaC fundamentals, and are eager to grow their platform engineering craft on a team that prioritizes developer experience.
Responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain infrastructure with OpenTofu, focusing on fault tolerance and operational simplicity.
- Own the lifecycle of services and subsystems, including design, deployment, production support, and ongoing improvements.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable application teams to ship safely and quickly.
- Investigate and resolve moderately complex infrastructure and performance issues, developing structured troubleshooting habits.
- Integrate security and compliance considerations, including HIPAA, into infrastructure decisions.
- Participate in architecture design discussions and assist engineers in navigating cloud and automation frameworks.
- Contribute to broader platform reliability improvements and process optimization across engineering.
- Undertake small-scale project leadership, including scoping work, managing timelines, and coordinating with teammates.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for systems owned by the team.
Requirements
- A few years of professional experience as a software, platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineer, including time at more than one organization.
- Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider; AWS preferred.
- Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (OpenTofu, Terraform, or equivalent).
- Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in at least one of Python or Go, and willingness to work in both.
- Solid fundamentals in networking, storage, and monitoring.
- Ability to debug production issues independently and communicate findings clearly.
- Comfort participating in an on-call rotation.
- Experience in a regulated industry (healthcare, finance) with compliance requirements like HIPAA (Nice to Have).
- Exposure to Kubernetes (EKS) or other container orchestration (Nice to Have).
- Experience with observability tooling (Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus) (Nice to Have).
- Background in developer experience or internal platform work (Nice to Have).
