About the Role

As an IT Engineer II in our Security & IT Operations Team, you will own the management of employee devices and key business applications. You will collaborate closely with security engineers to safeguard our critical systems and devices. Regular collaboration with HR, Operations, and tier 1 support technicians will be essential to enable Cover Genius employees throughout their entire employment lifecycle. Your work will be crucial in providing a seamless and secure technology experience for all Cover Genius employees, enabling them to do their best work.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the fleet of corporate laptops (macOS and Windows) using Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform
  • Administration of core business SaaS applications, such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack and Okta
  • Proactively identify and automate repetitive IT operational tasks
  • Serve as the escalation point for the Level 1 support team. Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems related to hardware, software, and network connectivity that require deeper investigation and expertise.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks for troubleshooting support requests. Provide training to Level 1 support Technicians
  • Assist in gathering evidence and generating reports for internal and external audits

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in an IT Analyst or Systems Administrator type role
  • Demonstrated experience administering major Identity Providers (e.g., Okta, Entra) and SaaS productivity suites (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
  • Hands-on experience managing and securing corporate endpoints using modern Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms like Microsoft Intune and Kandji.
  • Deep troubleshooting knowledge of modern operating systems (macOS, Windows 11) within a managed corporate environment.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools like Terraform is desirable for automating the configuration of IT and security tooling.
  • A practical understanding of modern corporate networking principles, including the configuration and troubleshooting of Wi-Fi, VPN clients, DNS, DHCP, and the fundamental concepts of a Zero Trust network architecture
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to automate repetitive IT administration tasks, generate reports, or integrate systems via APIs.
  • Analytical Mindset & Meticulous Problem-Solving: ability to dissect complex technical and security issues, investigate root causes, and implement robust, well-considered solutions. This is underpinned by an exceptional attention to detail, crucial for security incident analysis and system configuration.
  • Proactive Security Focus & Continuous Learning: genuine curiosity and self-driven motivation to stay current with the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape. Actively seeks out knowledge on new threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices to anticipate risks rather than just reacting to them.
  • Clear Communication & Stakeholder Empathy: Excels at translating complex technical concepts into clear, understandable language for both technical peers and non-technical employees. Combines strong written skills for precise documentation with a professional, customer-centric approach when handling user escalations and communicating security requirements.
  • Superior Organisation & Adaptability: strong organisational and time-management skills to effectively prioritise competing tasks—from urgent security incidents to ongoing operational projects. Thrives in a dynamic environment with a positive, agile approach to the rapid pace of change inherent in a cloud-native tech company.
