About the Role
The Associate Manager, Retail Operations supports and strengthens the operational foundation of the NYBG Shop, focusing on logistics, inventory, systems, and reporting to ensure smooth business operations and future growth. This role coordinates deliveries, stockroom flow, POS functionality, and inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Streamline day-to-day operational logistics including deliveries, stockroom organization, work orders, and cross-channel inventory flow.
- Ensure inventory system accuracy and reporting across in-store and online locations.
- Analyze inventory, storage utilization, and sales data to maintain appropriate stock levels and prevent shrinkage.
- Monitor KPIs across all sales channels and provide performance insights.
- Support POS system functionality, serving as the primary point person for issues, processing damages, and managing discount and promotional codes.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures, process guides, and reference documents.
- Coach and develop team members supporting fulfillment and cross-channel operations.
- Partner with fellow Associate Managers and other Garden departments on cross-functional projects.
Requirements
- 4+ years of retail experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory, lead, or management role.
- Demonstrated experience in retail operations, inventory management, and reporting.
- Proven ability to lead a team and manage a retail floor in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience coaching, training, and developing team members.
- Proficiency with POS systems (Shopify preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Resourcefulness in research, data collection, and analysis.
- Working knowledge of eCommerce/Shopify operations preferred.
- Knowledge of or genuine enthusiasm for horticultural and botanical products is a plus.
