About the Role
As a Security Engineering Manager, you will execute security initiatives to protect systems, data, and infrastructure. You will be a seasoned generalist, adapting quickly to new challenges and working with IT, engineering, and risk teams to implement security controls, evaluate designs, and improve security posture. A key focus will be leading the practical application of AI to security use cases within a product delivery model, treating security capabilities as products delivered iteratively.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the implementation of security projects.
- Review, maintain, and configure security tooling across the organization.
- Evaluate and enhance existing security controls, policies, and procedures.
- Perform risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies, informing technology and business owners of current resilience and risk exposure.
- Provide technical security consultancy to projects.
- Engage effectively with risk, legal, privacy, data governance, and enterprise architecture teams.
- Provide support and guidance through secure by design competencies, including attack mapping and threat modeling.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts.
- Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to integrate security into infrastructure and application design and development lifecycles.
- Support compliance efforts (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001) through documentation and control testing.
- Share knowledge with team members and promote a culture of security awareness.
- Identify, prioritize, and deliver AI and machine learning use cases to improve security outcomes, such as vulnerability prioritization, control assurance, and evidence gathering.
- Own AI-enabled security capabilities as products, defining problem statements, maintaining backlogs and roadmaps, and delivering iteratively.
- Apply security automation and orchestration, including LLM and agent-based approaches, to reduce manual effort in security engineering workflows.
- Work with data, platform, and engineering teams to ensure data quality, pipelines, integration, and tooling for AI-enabled security capabilities.
- Ensure AI use in security is safe, explainable, and compliant with internal AI governance standards and regulatory expectations.
- Advise on securing the organization's AI adoption, including model and prompt security, data leakage, third-party AI services, and AI-specific threats.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity roles, preferably in finance services or insurance sectors.
- Broad knowledge of security domains: network security, endpoint protection, secure development lifecycle, identity and access management, cloud security (AWS/Azure), incident response, and governance.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management tools, and cloud-native security services.
- Demonstrable experience applying AI, machine learning, or LLMs to security use cases with evidence of delivered outcomes.
- Experience working in a product delivery model, including product ownership, backlog and roadmap management, agile delivery, iterative release, and value measurement.
- Practical knowledge of security automation and orchestration, scripting or low-code integration, and working with APIs and security data pipelines.
- Understanding of AI risk, governance, and assurance concepts, including model limitations, bias, explainability, data protection, and emerging AI regulation and standards.
- Awareness of AI-specific threats and controls, such as prompt injection, data leakage, model and supply chain risk, and relevant frameworks.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and industry standards (e.g., NIST, CIS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Pragmatic approach with creative problem-solving for mitigations and improvements.
- Positive strategic thinking, sharing insights and best practices.
- Variable communication style, able to communicate with both technical and executive audiences.
- Growth mindset with continuous investment in skills and knowledge.
- Product and outcome mindset, starting from the user and outcome, delivering in small increments, measuring value, and adapting quickly.
- Balanced innovator, enthusiastic about new technology like AI while remaining objective about hype, limitations, and risk.
- Positive collaborator, approachable and supportive in solving challenges across multiple stakeholders and teams.
