About the Role
Telnyx is seeking passionate individuals to contribute to an industry-shaping company, focusing on building and improving backend services for a serverless platform, function deployment pipeline, and global control plane. The role involves owning backend and control-plane software, ensuring a great developer experience through clean APIs and predictable behavior, and building reliable workflows for deployments, configuration, storage, and observability.
Responsibilities
- Design and build Go services for the serverless platform, function deployment pipeline, and global control plane.
- Own backend and control-plane software, including customer-facing APIs, resource lifecycles, and services for managing edge infrastructure workloads.
- Enhance platform usability with clean APIs, a sharp CLI, predictable behavior, and informative error messages.
- Build reliable workflows for deployments, configuration, storage, and observability, handling retries, state, and failure cases across services and data centers.
- Work with Kubernetes and runtime infrastructure via the control plane, diagnosing platform issues related to latency, throughput, and reliability.
- Develop tooling for safe operation at scale and participate in on-call rotations for built systems.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of professional backend software development experience.
- Proficiency in Go, or strong experience in a comparable backend language (Rust, Java, C++) with an interest in writing Go.
- Solid distributed systems fundamentals, including debugging production service-to-service problems and understanding retries, partial failures, and idempotency.
- Comfort designing user-friendly APIs and resource models for other engineers.
- Experience with relational databases, including schemas, transactions, and migrations.
- Experience building asynchronous systems using patterns like queues, background jobs, or state machines.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and interest in building software for Kubernetes-based infrastructure.
- Experience running highly available services, including on-call responsibilities.
