About the Role

We are rapidly growing and now serve over 730,000 businesses in the UK. In order to support the next phase of our expansion, we’re hiring a small team of experienced Sales Account Executives, whose mission is to reach out and support more complex high value customers with a personalised experience. We’re building an acquisition engine and your job will be to work with small-medium business (SMB) prospective customers, guide them through their buying journey, work with them to activate their account and bring all their banking needs to Monzo. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the founding sales team for a mission driven company, which is changing how people and businesses bank.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with prospective SMB customers through discovery calls, and understand their business, challenges, goals and requirements.
  • Drive full sales cycle, from early prospecting and qualification; to demos and sales; to ensuring successful account switch and activation.
  • Guide customers through Monzo’s business banking offerings - providing clear, factual information and helping them evaluate what works best.
  • Be a product expert: fully understand Monzo's business banking products, features and services.
  • Manage a pipeline of leads with strong attention to data hygiene: timely follow-ups, accurate forecasting, deal tracking.
  • Drive activation: not just closing, but ensuring new business customers are fully set up, onboarded, and are using Monzo for their banking needs.
  • Collaborate internally: work closely with marketing, product, risk and customer operations to ensure a smooth journey for customers.
  • Deliver outstanding service at every touchpoint: via phone, video, email or digital channels.
  • Achieve sales targets: conversion, activations, revenue, engagement and other growth metrics as set by the commercial leadership.
  • Feed insights back: capture and share customer feedback — customer pain points, required features, suggestions for product improvements.
  • Adapt & iterate: Be comfortable with ambiguity and change and help support what comes next.

Requirements

  • Experience in Small Business sales, ideally selling business solutions or financial services; knowing how to engage business customers and understand their mindset, needs and pain points.
  • Proven track record of meeting (or exceeding) sales quotas / targets in a performance-driven environment.
  • Expert at managing a full sales cycle: from prospecting to activation, including structured and rigorous outreach and follow-ups and cross-team coordination.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to quickly connect and build a relationship with customers of diverse backgrounds and levels of knowledge.
  • Strategic communicator, excellent at building trust and helping customers discover value - consultative, listens, asks insightful questions.
  • Adaptable and resilient, embraces change and has a strong winning mindset to see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.
  • Communicate clearly: written, verbal, via video; simplify complex topics for customers.
  • Coachable and comfortable seeking constructive criticism to empower continuous learning and improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, high change environment. Thrives when things aren’t fully defined yet.
  • High levels of personal organisation: tracking pipeline, managing time, prioritising leads and follow-up tasks.
  • Integrity and strong consumer duty awareness: regulatory compliance, knowing your customer, reducing risk, safeguarding data and ensuring we put consumer duty first are foundational to this role and our culture.
