  • Investigate escalated alerts and prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports for filing.
  • Own sanctions program execution, including asset-freeze and economic sanctions obligations.
  • Maintain sanctions list coverage and oversee screening, adjudicating or escalating potential matches.
  • Support financial crime and sanctions risk assessments and control effectiveness testing.
  • Translate Payment Services Act obligations into practical guidance for various teams.
  • Localize global policies into Japan-specific standards and maintain the Japan policy suite.
  • Review customer-facing terms, disclosures, marketing, and product changes for regulatory conformity.
  • Support data protection and consumer protection requirements.
  • Maintain the Japan open-issues register and drive remediation to closure.
  • Produce compliance and financial crime reporting for leadership.
  • Coordinate audits, independent reviews, and control testing, tracking findings to resolution.
  • Deliver Japan compliance, AML/CFT, and sanctions training.
  • Partner with various teams to embed Japan requirements into product and process design.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of compliance, financial crime, or regulatory experience in Japanese financial services.
  • Hands-on AML/CFT operations experience.
  • Direct sanctions program experience.
  • Working knowledge of how regulatory bodies engage a licensed financial institution.
  • Experience preparing regulatory filings, returns, or RFI responses.
