About the Role
Lead a team of 8 frontend and backend engineers, reporting to the VP of Engineering. This role requires a strong technical background to guide design decisions and weigh trade-offs, rather than hands-on coding.
Responsibilities
- Hire, onboard, and grow the team, setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback.
- Elevate technical quality through clear boundaries, sound designs, and high operational standards.
- Enhance delivery speed and quality by reducing lead time and change failure rate, focusing on customer needs.
- Ensure team ownership of reliability, including SLOs, observability, system health, and blameless incident reviews.
- Collaborate with Product and Tech Leads on planning and delivery, balancing new features, improvements, bugs, and maintenance.
- Empower the team with autonomy, clear goals, and accountability.
- Build strong relationships with other teams.
Requirements
- A background as a Senior or above individual contributor before moving into management.
- 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager.
- A proven track record of improving quality and speed through technical and process changes.
- A strong understanding of distributed systems and data integrity.
- Clear communication skills across different locations and time zones.
