About the Role
As a Software Engineer on the Markets team, you will build and automate the decision-making infrastructure for our battery fleet and financial commitments, covering real-time dispatch to long-term market participation. You will transform complex market and control problems into reliable, automated systems, including simulators, models, and trading strategy systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain infrastructure, platforms, and algorithmic components for battery control and financial market participation.
- Collaborate with utilities, fleet, and market teams to enable participation in new power market modalities and geographies.
- Automate daily processes, including backtest automation, regression-safe release processes, and iteration speed improvements.
- Develop monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems for automated decision processes.
- Enhance existing battery physical operation policies.
- De-risk, implement, and maintain ML-based methods for automated decision making.
Requirements
- Strong ability to systematize requirements, define success for ambiguous problems with multiple objectives, and propose pragmatic solutions.
- World-class ownership mindset; own outcomes, not just tasks.
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML and HPC infrastructure from a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) or specialized providers (Modal, Beam).
- Strong interest in applied math and machine learning methods.
- Experience solving MLOps or similarly challenging observability/monitoring/versioning problems.
- Experience with decision-making under uncertainty for stateful systems (nice to have).
