About the Role

We are starting a new product focused on fleet management for robots, built upon our existing Pixi technology. This role involves developing both the robot-side agent and coordination layer in Rust, as well as the web frontend for operators. The goal is to enable peer-to-peer communication for robots and edge nodes, ensuring functionality even with unstable internet connections. Pixi will manage environments, artifact distribution, and updates on devices, while the web UI will allow operators to monitor the fleet, deployments, logs, and control rollouts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the on-robot agent in Rust, handling environment reconciliation, health reporting, and update orchestration.
  • Build the networking layer for peer discovery, fleet state sharing, and inter-robot package distribution.
  • Create the operator web UI and integrate it with the Rust backend.
  • Conduct testing on real hardware, both in-office and with field partners.
  • Contribute upstream changes to Pixi, rattler, and RoboStack as needed for fleet management work.
  • Engage with users, write documentation, and contribute to product direction.

Requirements

  • Solid fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience with Rust, or a strong background in C++ or Go with a willingness to switch.
  • Experience with asynchronous Rust (tokio) is beneficial.
  • Some frontend development experience with React/Next.js, Svelte, or Vue.
  • A care for user interface design and usability.
  • Some background in robotics, such as ROS or ROS 2, university projects, hobby robots, or previous robotics industry experience.
  • Comfort with Linux, basic networking, and the command line.
  • A desire to own tasks end-to-end within a small team.
  • Reside in Berlin or be willing to relocate.
