About the Role

We've built an orchestration platform that runs our remittance transaction flow end to end. It handles the long-running, stateful, failure-prone work between "customer pressed send" and "money arrived": routing, compliance checks, partner calls, payouts, reconciliation, retries and compensation when a step fails. Remittance is the first product on the platform. Our intent is for future products to launch on this layer rather than rebuild transaction orchestration. This is the senior product role for that piece of core company infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Define platform strategy, including boundaries, guarantees, and non-goals.
  • Determine which capabilities are platform primitives versus consuming product features.
  • Own the sequencing and core changes for onboarding a second product.
  • Manage the migration approach for remittance as the platform evolves.
  • Define contracts for teams building against the platform, including workflow interfaces, idempotency, retry and compensation semantics, timeouts, state visibility, and SLAs.
  • Develop documentation, onboarding, and observability tooling for self-serve and operability.
  • Manage the platform engineering team's roadmap, balancing remittance reliability with platform investment.
  • Own platform success metrics such as workflow success rates, time-to-completion, manual intervention rate, time to resolve stuck workflows, and time-to-integrate.
  • Represent the platform to operations, compliance, and finance teams.
  • Partner with the engineering lead on architecture decisions with product consequences.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product management with at least 3 years owning a platform, infrastructure, API, or backend product for engineering teams.
  • Shipped products that other teams built upon and understand the consequences of abstractions.
  • Strong understanding of distributed-systems concepts including asynchronous processing, eventual consistency, at-least-once delivery, idempotency, compensation vs. rollback, and failure modes of long-running workflows.
  • Ability to hold design conversations with senior engineers as a peer.
  • Experience in payments, remittance, banking, ledger, or transaction-processing.
  • Understanding of settlement, reconciliation, payout partners, and compliance screening.
  • Exceptional written communication skills for creating clear specs and contracts.
  • Direct comfort with data, including querying, reading dashboards, and investigating anomalies.
  • Proven track record of saying 'No' to powerful internal stakeholders effectively.
  • Equivalent competencies in the above requirements will also be considered.
