About the Role
Y Combinator is seeking an Associate Video Producer to join the YC Media team. This role is for an individual who is smart, organized, resourceful, and knowledgeable about startups and technology. You will collaborate with Senior Video Producers on various editorial projects, assisting with research, pre-interviews, editing, publishing, scheduling, guest communication, and calendar management.
Responsibilities
- Help produce YC videos and podcasts.
- Collaborate with Senior Video Producers to manage projects from conception to publication.
- Research guests, companies, technologies, and topics.
- Assist in writing interview questions, briefs, descriptions, and other editorial content.
- Schedule and conduct pre-interviews, taking detailed notes.
- Coordinate shoot dates and logistics with founders, companies, and guests.
- Review edits and prepare projects for final approval.
- Edit short-form clips and other video content.
- Maintain production organization, including notes, project documentation, and schedules.
- Track project status and ensure timely completion.
- Manage transcripts, video files, review links, and other production assets.
- Organize final videos and assets in Dropbox.
- Transcribe finished recordings.
- Distribute final edits, transcripts, and links to YC partners.
- Upload and publish episodes across various platforms.
- Ensure all publishing assets (titles, descriptions, thumbnails, etc.) are prepared.
- Coordinate final steps between editorial, production, and distribution.
- Assist with on-site production, including guest management and set organization.
- Occasionally assist as a camera operator.
- Help organize production gear and equipment.
Requirements
- Deep interest in startups, AI, technology, and the internet, with an understanding of YC and startup culture.
- Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn quickly.
- Experience producing or editing video, podcasts, or other media.
- Strong writing and research skills with good editorial judgment.
- Exceptional organization, reliability, and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Clear communication and prompt follow-up.
- Willingness to perform various tasks to ensure production success.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Hands-on experience with cameras, audio, and video production equipment.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area.
