About the Role
Bedrock is scaling deployments nationwide, requiring a robust platform to manage the lifecycle of autonomous machines, including vetting, provisioning, calibration, deployment, monitoring, updating, and servicing. The Fleet Engineering team builds the system of record, services, and applications used by internal teams and external partners to manage a growing fleet.
Responsibilities
- Own the fleet system of record, including data models and services for machines, hardware, worksites, and deployments.
- Build applications for technicians, dispatchers, and operations teams to manage machine vetting, installation scheduling, inventory tracking, and fleet health.
- Develop services for robots to manage identity, credentials, calibrations, and configuration, and track their status and location.
- Manage the transfer of petabytes of sensor data from remote job sites to support ML and learning.
- Collaborate with field technicians, operators, and cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, ML, robotics) to translate real-world workflows into software.
- Design and evolve foundational APIs for other engineering teams and external partners.
- Leverage AI and agents for development workflows, fleet triage, and operations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software, managing systems from design to operation.
- Strong backend and data-modeling skills, with experience designing schemas and services for dependent systems.
- Ability to build full-stack applications with user-friendly interfaces.
- Product sense, focusing on user problems and delivering useful versions of features.
- Comfort with ambiguity, capable of defining and driving vague cross-functional problems to completion.
- Clear communication skills with non-engineering teams, including field operators and customer-facing roles.
