About the Role
Forkey Fabrication is hiring a mid-level software developer to develop and support KitBoss, a Python/Django web-based manufacturing execution system. This role offers ownership and direct collaboration with users, allowing you to shape the product's direction.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and ship new KitBoss modules and features end to end.
- Design application architecture and data models that scale with growing usage.
- Design, develop and maintain secure RESTful APIs and data integrations.
- Optimize database schemas, write complex SQL queries, and manage data persistence.
- Implement and maintain authentication, role-based authorization and secure handling of business data.
- Write thorough unit, integration and regression test suites.
- Maintain automated build and deployment pipelines.
- Troubleshoot, debug and optimize application performance.
- Monitor KitBoss in production, resolve issues, support users, and write documentation.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong knowledge of Python 3.10+, including async programming.
- Hands-on experience with Django, FastAPI or Flask.
- Strong proficiency in relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM tools.
- Proven experience designing clean RESTful web services and integrating with third-party systems.
- Working knowledge of caching strategies, background job processing, concurrency and designing for scalability and reliability.
- Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.
- HTML, CSS and JavaScript for server-rendered pages.
- Strong Git skills: branching, merging, pull requests and code review.
- Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical colleagues and work directly with users.
