About the Role
Design Hire is seeking a Sr Mechanical Engineer to focus on the design and development of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial, institutional, and other building projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for new construction, renovations, and building improvement projects.
- Develop engineering calculations, equipment selections, system layouts, specifications, and construction documents using Revit and other design tools.
- Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, structural, architectural, and other engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical oversight, review engineering drawings, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
- Support project management, client coordination, field investigations, construction administration, and overall project delivery.
Requirements
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience within an MEP consulting environment.
- Strong proficiency in Revit.
- Ability to independently manage mechanical designs while providing technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required.
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably within an MEP or architectural/engineering consulting firm.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or actively pursuing licensure with the ability to obtain it in the near future.
- Strong proficiency in Revit for mechanical building systems design.
- Extensive experience designing HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, or similar building projects.
- Experience with plumbing and fire protection systems design and coordination.
- Strong understanding of mechanical building codes, engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and construction documentation.
- Excellent communication, technical leadership, and project coordination skills.
