About the Role
The Associate Director, Clinical Science will be a key scientific contributor responsible for shaping and executing the clinical and translational science strategy for BHB-1893, a novel cardiac myosin inhibitor for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This role is critical for preparing the drug for global Phase 3 trials and regulatory submissions, involving protocol design, data review, analysis, and external representation of the science.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Clinical Development leads to shape translational and clinical science strategy for BHB-1893 across oHCM and nHCM.
- Drive scientific input into protocol design and endpoint selection, considering sarcomere biology and disease-specific pharmacodynamic factors.
- Lead clinical and scientific review of clinical data listings, identifying and resolving data anomalies.
- Serve as a key clinical science point of contact with Braveheart's global co-development partner, supporting data review, cleaning, and reconciliation.
- Independently analyze clinical, biomarker, and exploratory endpoint data to generate insights informing program strategy.
- Develop exploratory analyses with Biometrics and Clinical Pharmacology to interrogate complex datasets.
- Author and review clinical study reports, investigator brochures, abstracts/publications, and scientific components of regulatory submissions.
- Represent the science of BHB-1893 with key opinion leaders, at scientific conferences, and in advisory board settings.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent research doctorate; other advanced degrees (e.g., PharmD, MS with substantial relevant experience) will be considered.
- 6+ years of experience in clinical development and/or translational research.
- Demonstrated experience conducting hands-on review and quality control of clinical data listings.
- Experience collaborating with co-development partners, CROs, or other external organizations on clinical data review, cleaning, and reconciliation, ideally in global Phase 3 trials through database lock.
- Strong independent data analysis skills, including the ability to identify patterns, anomalies, and scientific signals in complex clinical datasets.
- Working knowledge of cardiovascular disease biology, ideally including sarcomere biology and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
- Experience authoring or contributing to clinical study protocols, clinical study reports, and regulatory documents (e.g. NDA/MAA submissions).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for bridging between scientific and business participants, for negotiating timelines and for effective international collaboration.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and remain comfortable with change and ambiguity.
- Flexible, proactive, and hands-on mindset with a roll-up-your-sleeves, can-do attitude.
Skills
- Programming experience (e.g., R, Python, or SAS) sufficient to analyze clinical datasets
- Track record of developing novel analytic approaches to complex biomarker or clinical trial data
